For the past eight years, Long Way Homestead has been dedicated to producing high-quality Canadian wool products while supporting sheep farmers and educating consumers about the value of local fibre. Thanks to your support, our wool mill has grown beyond anything we imagined—and we've reached the point where we simply can't keep up with demand, and we’ve also seen the limitations of mini-mill equipment.

We're excited to share the next chapter.

My goal when I started Long Way Homestead was to connect fibre artists and crafter with local farmers and mills - and that goal remains front and centre. I would now add to that goal that I want to get even MORE canadian wool into the hands of crafters, fibre artists and all Canadians - and I believe this project will help us do that.

Over the coming year, we're expanding beyond our own processing mill to get even more quality Canadian wool into the community. We'll be working with farms across Western Canada to source Canadian wool, coordinate its processing at one of Canada's remaining commercial spinning mills, and make more Canadian-grown yarn available to fibre artists, yarn shops, dyers, and textile businesses across the country.

This means more Canadian wool staying in Canada, more value returning to farmers, and more locally produced yarn finding its way into your hands. 

We will continue producing the Long Way Homestead small-batch and breed specific products you know and love, this new venture allows us to make an even bigger impact—creating opportunities not just for our farm, but for sheep farmers and fibre businesses across Canada.
