About the Cabin

The cabin is a 96 square feet mini cabin with a queensized bed loft with bedding provided. The cabin has a small couch that pulls out to a twin sized bed and some shelves for storage. The loft bed is accessed by a ladder. The amenities in the cabin include:

  • small fridge

  • single hot plate for cooking

  • plates, utensils and other cooking pots and pans

  • coffee bodum and tea pot

  • dish soap

  • toilet paper

  • bed linens

The cabin is heated with a small wood burning stove (wood is provided). The cabin as a small deck with an outdoor shower area. The bathroom is an outhouse about 25 ft from the cabin. There is electricity and lights in the cabin. There is unreliable rural wi-fi in the cabin and a driveway parking spot for one vehicle.

The resident will be responsible to provide for themselves:

  • food and drinks (tap water is from our well and potable, but can taste like iron)

  • towel and any extra linens required beyond bed linens

  • personal care items

  • all supplies for the research and work of the residency.

About the Studios

The indoor studio is 320 sq feet with a large work table and electricity and two large windows with natural sunlight. The studio is heated by a wood fire place if needed. The studio does not have any sinks or running water installed. Residents will have exclusive access to the studio during the residency.

Extra add-ons for the residency include spinning wheel, Leclerc loom, custom made batting and yarn, and some dye plants. The fee for these add ons can be discussed on a case by case basis. (check out that price list here)

The outdoor studio will be built in May 2023, a covered 98 sq ft platform with built in sink, burner and counter top for natural dyeing. The studio will have hooks and shelving for drying and storing naturally dyed textiles and the studio includes:

  • 4 large stainless steel pots for dyeing (20 qt)

  • 5 smaller pots of varying sizes for dyeing.

  • 3 propane burners for dyeing

  • stainless steel and wooden stir spoons

  • drying racks for yarn and fibre


Cost and Availability


The Fibre Artist in Residency is booked for 1 week stay’s from May 1, 2023 until November 1, 2023.

Cost: $650/week (6 days)

The cost includes using the cabin and all ammenities in the cabin including outhouse, indoor studio and outdoor dye studio, wifi (can be inconsistent), dish soap, toilet paper and bed linens. All food and other personal care items are the responsibility of the resident.

The cabin can accomodate up to 2 people max. Partners or spouses may stay during the residency for an additional fee of $25/day. We are not able to accomodate pets at the farm at this time.
