10am - 4pm

Long Way Homestead Farm (directions here)

Make a start on designing your own colourwork yoke sweater following our versatile 'Strange Brew' recipe!

We'll explore the design of a circular yoke worked either bottom up, or top down. In this two-session intensive workshop we'll explore yarn choices, colour combinations, and each participant will get one-on-one feedback on their unique yoke design. We'll also take a look at different ways to swatch and tools for developing designs both with pencil and graph paper, and by experimentation on the needles.

I encourage each of you to cast on and begin your project; either by making a swatch hat or cowl, or by getting started directly on your yoke sweater!

Skills required: - stranded colourwork knitting
- A knowledge of how to read multi-size knitting patterns
- An understanding of gauge
- A willingness to experiment!

Student materials: Yarn - 2 or more colours in either sock, DK, or aran weight yarn of the sort you would like to make a sweater in. I suggest you start with 50-100g of your main colour plus small amounts of contrast colours for swatching at a minimum.
