CORRIEDALE  from Long Way Homestead is a yarn comprised of Saskatchewan sourced Corriedale wool. The corriedale breed was developed in New Zealand in the 1880's as a dual-purpose breed intended to graze on pastures that were not well suited to the dominant sheep breeds being raised already. Originally developed by breeding Merino sheep and and Lincoln Long-wool sheep. Corriedale wool is excellent for spinning, knitting, weaving and felting. It is a resilient fibre that can be soft and worn next to the skin, but will also provide strength and elasticity to projects that require more.

Meet the Farmer

Wendell and Dina Bailey have been involved with the Corriedale breed for the past 10 years.  While working to bring the breed off the “Endangered List” with Rare Breeds Canada, the Baileys have been focusing on establishing a flock that excels in high quality fleeces.
